Tips to reduce Condensation in your Home
Condensation occurs when warm air collides with cold surfaces or when there’s too much humidity within your home. Condensation is the biggest cause of damp and mould problems. You get a build-up in condensation when you shower, cook or dry clothes indoors. There are a number of simple techniques you can use to help reduce condensation within your home.
Tips for Dealing with Condensation
When Drying clothes:
- Dry clothes outside when possible
- Try not to dry clothes on radiators
- Ensure your tumble dryer pipes ventilate outside
- Dry clothes in the bathroom with the window open and the extractor fan on
In the Kitchen:
- Cover pots and pans with lids
- Turn on your extractor fan
- Keep the kitchen door closed when cooking or boiling the kettle
- Open the window when cooking so hot air can escape
In the Bathroom:
- Wipe down cold surfaces after a shower or bath to remove excess moisture
- Open the window when having a bath or shower so hot air can escape
- Keep the bathroom door closed when having a bath or shower
